Plc Programming Class
Education with Experience
Our PLC Class Instructors are all full-time Engineers on our Systems Integration & Automation staff. They are proficient in programming PLCs, and HMIs, used by operators to interact with the PLCs. All have many years of experience in programming and troubleshooting PLCs in plants throughout the state, and are experts in their field.
The Beginning Class is designed to introduce a basic PLC Automated Control System. You will be learning about the hardware (controllers, memory, chassis, power supplies & I/O modules) available to begin planning a project. We will cover the communications options to set up different networks. Students will be shown how the processor stores 16-bit binary numbers. Hands-on Labs are developed to bring the student understanding of how to move around in the RSLogix Ladder Logic Software. By the end of this class, you will be able to write very simple code that is documented, downloaded, tested and saved.
The Intermediate Class is a 3-day class that will continue using more Hands-on Labs to learn about the different functions used in programming. Common code used in any plant environment will be highlighted with programming examples taught to utilize timers, counters, comparison, math, and move instructions. The students will learn basic troubleshooting skills from online editing, clearing faults, forcing outputs, and search for an address. By the end of this class, you will be able to write code that is used in every project and have skills to troubleshoot problems.
The Advanced Class is a 1-day class that will allow students to set up a small PLC network in the classroom to introduce the programming necessary to communicate between PLCs. The students will also be introduced to analog controls and floating-point math. By class end the student will be capable of setting up communications between PLC's, set up and scale analog inputs and outputs, and use floating point math.
Specialized Classes will be scheduled according to the needs of the students. Subject matter may include individual plant systems training, PID control, wireless networking, PLC troubleshooting, basic HMIs, and beginning motion control. The classroom will be set up accordingly.
